Upcoming Speakers

Please note that all in-person lectures start at 2:30 pm.

Interested in what inspires local and regional artists? Interested in whether that came from fellow artists, a ‘Eureka’ moment, or the guidance of a mentor? Or would you like to hear about their artistic process, their career trajectories, or their struggles with their identity as a person or as an artist?

The Kingsley Art Club has been satisfying that curiosity for many years through the speakers they have brought to the Crocker to share their stories. The popular Speakers Series was modified and continued during the Covid19 shutdown by recording artists in their studio and uploading the videos to our YouTube channel.

You will find more intriguing art talks in our Winter and Spring Speakers series, that you can now see in person in the Crocker Auditorium.

If you can’t make the live event, you will be able to see the recorded video of these lectures when we post them to our YouTube channel afterwards.

Here is the 2023 Winter and Spring lineup:

New UPDATE to the April Lecture Date, please see below:

FRIDAY, April 14:
(Please note this lecture will fall on a FRIDAY.)
Lecture 4 – Philip Tinari
Philip is an international curator, now based in China, but with curation experience in the Middle East, as well.
He is Director and CEO of UCCA Center for Contemporary Art. Since 2011, he has led its transformation into China’s leading art institution, with locations in Beijing, Shanghai, and Beidaihe. He was co-curator of the 2017 Guggenheim exhibition “Art and China after 1989,” and artistic director of the First Diriyah Biennale.

Wednesday, May 17:
Lecture 5 – Michele McCormick
Michele took up a second life career in bird photography, which led her to a deep knowledge of the bird world.
With travel restricted by COVID, Michele discovered that her love of winter migratory bird photography need not be limited to seasons . . . and a new passion was born.
While Michele continues her interest in a variety of subjects, she has found a special love of avian artistry, reflected in her latest galleries. She hopes your passions will take wings of their own form, as hers have.
